Things do have a tendancy to move a bit slow in the South - exceptin' for fingers on strings. You're welcome to look around our place and listen to some good ol' pickin.

It's always better LIVE! Check the schedule page & come on out!

Y'all Come Back Now!

News and Updates
This band may be short on numbers [playing many gigs as a duo or trio] but they're not short on talent. The number and styles of songs they perform tirelessly, three to four days a week, is a feat done only by accomplished - seasoned musicians. Dedicated local and far-away fans continue to return night after night, year after year to be entertained by this group. Always fresh, never predictible, except for the 'trade mark' showgirl kick at the end of the night. Corn Fused is must see class act! If your interested in what's going on with the band - here is a little monthly update, the band can't be held responsible for what's said here -  it's presented by the Mrs. - Holloway, that is.
Corn Fused  It's like nothing you've ever heard before!
For some of the best pickin around - bluegrass, country, rock and even a little bit of 'beach' music.
CD Review by Tommy McCoy
for Stay Tuned Magazine Fall 2008 Issue

I have been a huge fan of Dennis Wallace from the minute I first heard him play that "slicker'n deer guts on a door knob" flat pickin' guitar. His vocals expertly weave in and through traditional Bluegrass vocal inflections and singer/ songwriter compositions with the aura of a war worn veteran. He plays guitar like an old man telling an intricate and intriguing story. I know most of the top local guitarists consider Dennis "the Best" at what he does. This CD captures the real essence of his performance and finds his talents at their keenest on these wonderful, honest recordings. Mandolin monster Kevin Holloway does an amazing job comping behind Wallace guitar and vocals then, like a rattlesnake in a culvert, he rings out a solo with a biting tone and clarity. With lightning riffs and musical dexterity, Holloway’s rank as the finest Local Mandolin recordings I've heard. He also sings "One Way Track," "New River Train" and "She's No Lady." Dennis and Kevin have played together for years, honing their song skills at Ricky T's and around the beaches. When Steve Hagood showed up with his electric up-right bass, Corn Fused magic was created. This is one of the most entertaining live trios around and this new CD "Out...standing in their Field" proves they have an unparalleled knack for picking the right songs. Guy Clark contributes 2 perfect vehicles to showcase Dennis' talent as interpreter and re-inventor, effortlessly singing his heart out with equal character and finesse as any famous contemporary. The unobvious absence of drums is welcome; you can hear the percussion these 3 seasoned pros can produce. With beautiful, bare-bones production and nice natural tones from quality wooden instruments, their pure sound covers a huge panorama of frequencies, mixed to perfection by Steve Connelly at Zen Studio. From the hot pickin' and soul singin' on "Free Born Man" to the Lyle Lovett classic "She's No Lady", this CD is an astounding tribute to great songs performed to perfection by virtuosos.
Can be seen at Ricky T’s every week

FEB 2009
Whew! 2008 just FLEW by! With a long awaited CD released and party at Ka'Tiki, being one of the year's highlights. Countless gigs at Ricky T's on Treasure Island (well, we could count them, but we're not). A few missed gigs due to our winter rain - HEY! It's Corn Fused, not Gene Kelly - would you want to sing in the rain? We've had some chilly days, though the Yankees seem to think not. Rarely is a gig missed for cold weather this Winter and Ricky's is kind enough to supply outdoor heaters for the cool nights. The band played a few private holiday parties and even a gig in Tampa - Tampa? That's something for fellows that like to pick on the porch at home. THANKS to S. Ford, E. O'Brien and L. Carty for the great new photos of the band!
So far as we know, Ricky T's on St.Pete Beach is still closed for reno. The band should be going back when they re-open. Fo the time being, Corn Fused is booked thru April - every other Sunday at Ka'Tiki on Sunset Beach, Treasure Island. Check the calander for dates.
Speaking of Ricky T's - YEP! It's true, they have a new owner. Seems like a pretty nice fellow too. He introduced himself to a packed house - at a Corn Fused show - promising to keep Ricky's just the way we all like it. Mike Tackley will remain at his favorite seat.
Until next month... Now go get some Corn!
MAR 2009
Ah, there's a chill in the air - but Spring is on the way! Lucky or not - this is the month 'everyone' can be Irish! St.Patty's Day on a Tuesday means you can celebrate with the duo - Dennis & Kevin; Ricky T's of course, from 9:30 to... Two dates at Ka'Tiki this month and a special gig for the band. Sunday March 8th, Cornfused will perform at the Ringside Cafe - for the Kevin Thomas Benefit. A donation of $10 - proceeds going to help out fellow musician, Kevin Thomas who suffered a stroke. An awesome line up - check it out. Two Freds' sent in new band pics, scrool down & see if you can pick them out.
APRIL 2009
It's here! Spring that is - ah, the rain! Well, picking on the porch is no fun - if it does rain. So we'll take all we can get before & after the shows! Speaking of shows - Ka'Tiki is presenting Corn Fused, EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY in April! That's alright. For at least one month none of y'all will be Corn Fused as to where the band is, me either! In case you missed it, the Kevin Thomas benefit at Ringside last month was a smash! Non-stop, house-packing musicians came out to play. A very nice surprise too - Kevin got to come out as well. It was so nice to see him smiling! The fish didn't get any photos, but she did 'catch' some off of the net - great shots by Kevin's neice :) And one more thing, a few of the last bunch of Cd's sold had some blanks. If you got one drop us a line & we'll send you a new one.
Don't forget to put some CORN in your basket!
WHO are these guys?
listen here
and you gotta read this!

MAY 2009 New photos this month feature musical guests and a long time fan of the band. Linda "Wallace" was in town & she did a few songs with the band at Ka'Tiki - what a treat! The same night, same place, an 'un-named' local up & coming fiddler returned to the stage to perform with the band. He's a sweet boy & sure knows how to work that bow! A regular guest of the band "Little Lori Cherry" made her new bob-cut debut. KUDOS to Lori for donating her tresses to Locks of Love; an non-profit org, the provides real hair wigs to disadvantaged children in the US & Canada. The long-time fan, and owner of Gayle's, the little diner on 75th on St.Pete Beach; Tom, pictured with Lynn Marie. The band took a rare, but well deserved break; as frontman Dennis Wallace traveled for a few days. And ONE more announcement ~ drum-roll please ~ Corn Fused is officially booked to play EVERY SUNDAY AT KA'TIKI on Sunset Beach!! The crowds have been aweome, bartenders; Sharon & Dawn Marie keep the drinks cold & pour em' quick! You can't beat the Sunsets ~ it IS on Sunset Beach.
June already?! Corn Fused is here to entertain you on the hot Summer days! The sunsets on Ka'Tiki Sunday have been beautiful & the drinks are ice cold. Did you notice - Ricky T's has a new sign ? The place may change a bit - but your favorite band plays on! C.F. is sans fiddle for the Summer, a little more "breeze" room on stage. Rain delays? More than one in the month of May. An impromptu night at Sloppy Pelican was a treat for the listeners of Florida Folk Night. One never knows where these boys go when it rains on the porch! Memorial Day celebrations on the beach were plenty! Dennis performed with Tom Gribbin & the Saltwater Cowboys with special guest, John Prine! Wouldn't you know - I was out of town - so no photos of that event. Congratulations to Corn fans, Rachael & Harry on the purchase of their new home. I'll not mention a number - but I will say, Happy Birthday to Dennis Wallace, this month.
and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the Dad's!
July If April Showers Bring May Flowers - then this week's rain brings RELIEF from our HEAT. The weatherman is calling for rain rain rain all week long. Hey! If it rains on the porch - will there still be Corn? Stay tuned... the band may move out of the rain onto Ricky T's new stage inside. Looking for a way to stay cool and support your favorite band ? Check out the store for new a "Tattoo" design on Corn Fused gear. A new easy to navigate format at the store makes it easy to find your favorite design.

THANKS to all of our fans, friends and family - who continue to come out to our gigs in spite of the 100 DEGREE SUMMER DAYS!

CELEBRATE YOUR INDEPENDENCE! There are plenty of great spots on the beach with festivities and fireworks! Check out the
inaugural Constitution Boat Parade and Patriot Rally ~ A $500 first-place prize will be awarded to the boat owner who best represents an article or amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That will get you a whole lot of cocktails, while you listen to the Shark's perform inside Ricky T's on the 4th of July!
